Join us on select Monday evenings in January, February and April.
You love to read and watch movies. Why not bring your passion for both together in a Masterpiece Theatre Book & Film Club? Get together with friends, talk about the books, films, costumes, characters and more! WQPT's Masterpiece Book Club combines the appeal of a book club with the opportunity to be a film critic.
Starting in January, 2008, Masterpiece (formerly known as Masterpiece Theatre) will be airing The Complete Jane Austen—adaptations of all six Jane Austen novels. The Masterpiece Theatre Book & Film Club has all the resources you need to create and manage a club, along with resources on Jane Austen and all her novels.
The WQPT Masterpiece Book Club—open to everyone—will gather at the St. Ambrose University Library to discuss the unforgettable works of Jane Austen. How many ways can a young woman find true love amid the balls, dinner parties and carriage rides to meet a man in turn-of-the-19th-century England? Let us count the ways over the course of four months of Masterpiece productions.
PBS' Masterpiece will present all-new productions of Persuasion, Northanger Abbey, Mansfield Park and Sense and Sensibility. The line-up also includes previous productions of Emma starring Kate Beckinsale and the Emmy award-winning Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth. As a bonus, viewers will see a new drama, Miss Austen Regrets, based on the author’s own bittersweet love life.
Discussions begin at 6:30pm. and conclude at 8:00pm. and take place at the
libary at St. Ambrose University in Davenport.
